While the 'dorm' system sounds tyrannical and reeks of sweatshop, it actually sounds like a pretty good setup.
The money that they're making goes straight to pocket with no cost or need to find a place to live.
For those people concerned with the 15 hour days...step out of your bubble and realize that a huge portion of blue collar America works more than one job and easily 15 hours a day.
If you're going to be condemning asian outsourcing, condemn WalMart. They're 10000 times more in the wrong than Apple ever has been.

I just got my iPod 5 minutes ago!!! I was woken up by the doorbell, and it was the fed-ex guy!
I'm so happy!!!
I got the 10gb iPod. If you're looking to get the 5gb iPod, but think you can save up more for the 10, go for the 10. If you need the 20, than go for that one, but I really don't need if (for now, at least :D)
I love the little iPod's... I love 'em good...

It has been said that the G3 still has life left.
seeing that the only continuing apple model running a G3 is the ibook, how long do you think apple will leave it in the ibook before a G4 is dropped in.
Do you think apple would consider adding a velocity type engine to the processor- if possible?

Unfortunately, not exactly an exciting update.
No, but bug fixes and stuff are never a bad thing :)

Would it be OK then, if a web browser started adding its affiliate code to all Amazon purchases? It's shady.
If DM wants to release their software in 2 modes - sponsored and paid, that's cool. But don't make people pay, and make Amazon pay on top of that. That's just greedy. Besides, I pay for software if it's useful to me. I could frankly care less about supporting these guys.

I must speak about the graphic Cards Apple takes for its Product line. Thats a Point I misslike !!!
PM
low --> Geforce 4 MX
middle --> Radeon 9000 PRO
high --> Radeon 9000 PRO
These Cards are too bad for the Power Mac Line.
Look a Geforce 4 Ti4200 very good card has nearly the same Price like the Radeon 9000 Pro and the Gf4 Ti4200 is Faster !!!
And I dont can understand how you can build a card like the Radeon 9000 in THE HIGH END ?!?!?
These would be good and serious !
low --> Radeon 9000 PRO
middle --> Geforce 4 Ti 4200
high --> Geforce 4 Ti 4400 or 4600
Ti books are very Good !
iBook needs a Bump on graphic power (by the way)
And the iMac I think also need more power in graphic, when the next update of the iMac will still have a Gf2 I will laugh because noobody uses this cards more ( on the market) and the have no power !
Apple has a Big alliance with Nvidia much of you also think that there will be a Nforce Board for the Power Mac, so why not Simple use the things which Nvidia is very famous and good ???
Yes graphic acceleratetors !
By the way you can take MSI Geforce Cards and make a Flash rom and have a full Mac Geforce card for half the price !?!?
So the cards are not expensive in production and its not much work to put this cards in the Mac ! So why there are no good cards like the Geforce4 Ti4200 or 4400 for the Mac user ???
:mad:

The UK has a tradition for very expensive, sophisiticated advertising campaigns - the prevalence of the BBC means that the British traditionally have low tolerance for advert breaks so they have to be enjoyable and endear themselves to the public. As a result, we don't 'buy in' a huge amount - although I bet the new Apple ones would go down really well here, they are very much in the British quirky/funny advertising tradition, unlike any older apple ads I can think of. :)
The exceptions tend to be cosmetic/beauty/frozen food type products which, as someone said, often seem to be badly dubbed from German... and Microsoft/IBM business I.T. adverts. I can't believe those Microsoft adverts have ANY effect in the British market, other than retaining brand identity.

-ibook will be getting the radeon 7500 which is currently on the powerbook right now
-Apple will always going to favor more on the powerbook because its more expensive and people that put out money for the powerbook should get the technology first
but tibooks screen is 15.2 vs 14.1 at biggest for ibook, and at least one ibook will have 12.1" inch screen
tibook is titanium and ibook is plastic
tibook has pcmcia
tibook has larger RAM limit, and higher RAM already installed on its models to start with
tibook has g4 processor, ibook has g3 processor
tibook is thinner and basically, much sexier, for those of you industrial design fans
so i think it's ok if both get 64 MB video cards...there are pcs out there at ibook price levels with the 64 MB video card so apple needs at least that boost...ok, then, so charge 1299 for basic ibook and go up from there to 1899, but give us that 64 MB video card...apple inc is known for their multimedia machines...right?
why have pc club and other pc office machine makers have the 64 mb video card in their laptops?
the tibook is an all around better machine than the ibook, even if it ends up with the same video card in both
but a 32 meg video card in the ibook will sitll definitely be a boost from the 16 meg video card it currrently has:D

Cool, cheers for that. I don't want to see the TiBoot replaced anyway. I haven't seen a better computer around. All it needs is a slightly high resolution and I'd say its near perfection (for my use anyway).

forrest gump was definitely the greatest
but later i saw pulp fiction and i realized that movie was just as deserving of an oscar

I can't remember how I got onto MacRumors.com, but it was some time in and I got hooked onto the news site. One day in 2002 I got bored and went clicking around on this site, and stumbled on to this forum, and I was like "cool" and signed up. The first Forum that I probably signed up to would have been the Apple Support Forum.
I don't post much, but mostly read.

Did you hear the comments after that post too! ;) :)
Hmm, will give Adium and Fire a go. Which do most people prefer?
Edit: Took a look at the Adium website (am at work on a PC so can't try it yet). Looks great! I can't believe I didn't know about this!

I would go with Adium, a lot prettier in my eyes and development seems to be more active. If you check out the desktops thread, a lot of people are using it.

I wonder if the success of Skype will encourage Apple to really make a go of iChat. The AV capabilities are already superb, they just need to get more people using it. A good step would to support more protocols other than AIM (Jabber is a step in the right direction) and making it a cross platform app. I know a lot of people aren't a big fan of iChat but the success of Skype shows that there is a definite market. Unfortunately the sales of iSights are never going to match the sales of iPods so maybe the incentive just isn't there...shame.

Well we appear (well my comptuers) to be in the middle of a Tinker storm, all of my macintosh computers have been hit hard, and take quite a long time to complete them.
I will try to keep my numbers up, I will leave my work laptop on when I drive home today, so it can fold in my car :D
