Looking at old photos has made me remember the things that used to be better. Of course, almost everything is actually better now - the technology, medical care, science... all sorts of things. But these are the things I preferred the way they were:
1. Primary school aged children did not have homework.
2. Woolworths was a shop that sold a zillion little useful things.
3. When you phoned an organisation you spoke to a person and did not get 'push one for....'
4. People did not ring me at 5pm selling me things.
5. 75% of my post (mail) was not junk.
6. Banks had managers and staff to serve you not sell you stuff.
7. Petrol (Gas) did not cost £1.35 per litre.
8. We were ignorant about global warming (okay - that probably wasn't good but it felt better).
9. We could go to University and emerge without debt.
10. Young people could afford to buy houses on a single wage when they were in their twenties.
Am I turning into an old woman? Thought so.
