The Trinity

A friend asked me to blog on the Trinity and what it means to me. I am glad to do so. It is important, even foundational to aspects of my faith and to some extent my faith flows from belief in this one doctrine:

Love: God is love from the beginning of time - to love needs another and hence the Trinity gives the opportunity for God to have an object of love, even before creation began.

Community:  Love is the most important thing in my life, but community is the second most important. God is community and calls us to be likewise.

Democracy: I like to think of God as part of a team, not a single autocratic leader. I think we are called to exercise leadership in the context of mutual submission.

Provisionality: I think faith is a journey, a conversation, a question, a debate. The Trinity offer not a single mind, or a single perspective, but ambiguity. There is space between them and this is a mystical space where I can grow to become whole.
