Busy Hands «

Deryn: "No more biscuits?"

Deryn: "What do you mean there's no more biscuits?"

Deryn: "This is infuriating!"

Deryn: "This…is…Sparta!!!"

An addendum to yesterday's post: For some reason, as posted in an earlier post, Deryn likes to bite on the hard plastic handle of her pink Pigeon teether, instead of the soft biting tip.  Yesterday whenever Deryn turned the teether to bite on the handle, I would stop her.  Instead of turning the teether to bite on the biting tip, she threw the teether away.  This she did it a few times until she found something else of interest.  Baby has attitude.

Deryn was busy swatting my mother's hands away this morning.  I think grandmother wanted to do something that she was not too excited about, so Deryn swatted her hands away whenever she got near her.

Deryn took a fancy to my lens cap this evening and was very keen to have it in her hands (and in her mouth).  I let her hold and play with it, but stopped her whenever she put it close to her mouth.  Deryn decided to play a very smart move next.  She dropped my lens cap, pick up one of her teethers, put the teether near her mouth as if she was going to bite on it, then swiftly switched the teether with my lens cap and in one motion, brought the lens cap to her mouth and took a bite.

That was mightily impressive, considering Deryn strategized subterfuge that caused us to let down our guard and coordinated her movements to strike fast and true in order to achieve what she wanted.  And she conceived that strategy in less than a minute.  That is really amazing.
